You can’t see them very well, but the tiny colorful dots are actually intricate, perfect little handmade paper stars. Muditha, one of Shangrila’s talented volunteers, spent days creating these special gifts. She made hundreds of these “Wishing Stars” to be inserted into Christmas ornaments for our patients enjoyment. The bookmarks are also handmade by Muditha and are given to our patients and their families with love. We are blessed to have such remarkable and dedicated volunteers.
Shangrila Hospice is honored to have Betty J. Price on our team of volunteers. Betty has served as a Youth Missionary and has been active within her church since early childhood. She is a caring person with a passion for touching the lives of others.
Having been provided with the gift of a set of hand chimes in 1986, Betty taught herself to solo and made arrangements to play in a few nursing homes, little realizing that would grow into a ministry that spans the globe.
Betty recently shared her gift of talent with a number of skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities where Shangrila’s patients and countless others enjoyed her unique music. They sang along with the sounds of the season as spirits were lifted.
In addition to sharing her music across America, Betty regularly provides programs in nursing homes and Senior Centers, plays for church worship services, women's retreats, civic groups and conventions as well as for the City of Hope regularly and various American Cancer Society functions.
Betty has received a number of honors such as many "Certificates of Appreciation" as well as being included in the International Biographical Centre's Outstanding Musicians of the 20th Century. For many years she has been listed in several categories of Marquis Who's Who, both in America and abroad. Welcome aboard Betty! Your music is therapeutic for the soul and many are encouraged by your generosity.
